Buying The Right Shed
Hi everyone,
My name is Hamish Murphy and I have been involved in building and construction my whole life. There is nothing I love more than the garden shed, I feel it is a great practical addition to a house and can add a tremendous benefit. Unfortunately, it can also be done incorrectly and bring with it a lot of problems, heartache and unfulfilled hopes.
I’ve set up this website as a helper to anyone who wants to learn about sheds and is looking to buy a shed. Whether it is an outdoor storage shed, a garden shed, metal, plastic or wood shed.
You’ll find inside numerous tips, tricks and great advice designed to help you learn everything you need to know about sheds, and ultimately choose the right shed for you at the right price.
First of all, here’s a brief rundown of why you would want a shed:
Nobody ever has enough room to store all their stuff. And as each year goes by, we accumulate more and more stuff, where to put it all?
Don’t have room in your house for your dedicated hobby? A shed is the perfect solution for some extra space and a private workshop so you can really get some stuff done.
A good looking shed always adds value to your home if you ever decide to sell it.
One of the things that you may have come to this site for is information on how to figure out what shed you need and the best deals on sheds.
That’s one of the places where this website comes in handy. You’ll find out many secrets to choosing the right shed, plus I review all the different types of sheds, shed suppliers and manufacturers.
My recommendation for a shed company with a combination of the best quality, range and affordability is:
The New Zealand company BuyaShed.
They are a fantastic company with a good long history and track record. They offer really good value for money on everything from garden sheds, aviaries, storage sheds, carports and garages plus much much more.
Anyway, back to my synopsis of how to pick the right shed for you…
The two biggest choices of a shed that will have an impact on the price are:
1) Size of the shed
2) Type of material
These also happen to be two very important decision that will affect the functionality of your shed. Commonly size may be determined by your backyard or where you want to put the shed. The type of material can be related to the function of the shed, but also your budget.
The most common shed materials are:
- Wood
- Metal
- Vinyl
As part of your shed shopping, you’ll need to determine and decide exactly what purpose your shed is going to serve. Will it be:
- Strictly storage
- Strictly a workshop/hobby area
- Or a combination of both
